The Iranian authorities have controlled internet services to suppress the ongoing protests in that country. Basically, in response to this action of Tehran, Washington decided to relax the ban on Internet services. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said, 'We are going to help ensure that the Iranian people are not isolated and in the dark. Relaxing software controls will allow American technology companies to expand their business in Iran.' Earlier in 2019, there were massive protests in Iran against the increase in the price of energy. According to Reuters, there have been no such large protests in the country since then. The authorities have taken strict measures to control the situation. As part of this, Iran's social media has been controlled. Internet service has also been stopped. Iran has strict veiling laws, including mandatory hijab for women in public. The country's 'morality' police oversee whether these rules are being implemented or not. A team of ethics police arrested a young woman named Masha Amini from Tehran on September 13 under this rule. Amini visited Tehran with his family. After being detained, Amini fell ill at the police station and was admitted to a hospital in Tehran. He died three days later on September 16 while undergoing treatment. After his death, mass protests broke out across Iran. International circles also criticized this incident. Allegations of torture and ill-treatment in the suspicious death of 22-year-old Masha Amini in security custody must be investigated, Amnesty International said in a report.
